Hey, Dancin’ Dance family! The event you’ve been waiting for is finally here!

We’re having our Spring Showcase on Sunday, March 19th at the Hilton Rialto hotel in Melbourne starting at 1pm. This is a biannual event for our students to show off the skills they have been working on in an afternoon of fun, followed by a dinner party afterwards at around 7:30pm. It is a great opportunity for our students to be able to perform for an audience, especially if you desire to compete in the future.

There are two types of events students can participate in. Single dance heats showcase couples of either two students or a student and an instructor dancing a particular style for about 1 min ½ – 2 min. This is similar to the heats at ballroom competitions, but for our event, there’s no worries! Couples on the floor during the same heat won’t be judged against each other. Instead, our guest judge will just be writing down some critiques to help our students improve their dancing even more!

Students can also perform solo routines, choreographed to specific pieces of music. Like with heats, couples that perform solos can be either student/student or a student and an instructor. These special exhibitions allow students to express a particular story or convey a message through their dancing, not just perform steps. Our solos are often a highlight of the showcase, so you won’t want to miss seeing everyone perform!

If you’d like to participate: Heats will be $25 each or 5 heats for $100 or 10 heats for $190. Solos will be $150 each. Please talk to your instructor about any additional pro fees. We will have sign-up forms at the studio, so be sure to get these in ASAP.

If you would like to attend the showcase as a spectator, admission will be $10. (Understand this price does NOT include the dinner and evening events.) Be sure to invite your friends and come and support our students! Between dances there will be breaks for general dancing, so you might get a turn on the floor yourself!

Dinner afterwards is an additional $75 per person and will be a formal event. You MUST make reservations by March 12th. Please check with Heidi for menu options. This is a really fun time for our students to receive participation certificates and awards, along with a special pro show by our instructors. There will also be social dancing, as well.
